Got RIFT Builds?

RIFT: Planes of Telara launches 3 weeks from today, and the head start is even closer than that.  So, with Trion handing out beta keys to everyone, like canned tuna samples at a grocery store, I do hope that you already have a character build in mind. If not, then I got one for you right here.

I’m one of the lucky ones who got into all Beta events, prior to getting my VIP key, and also into Alpha/Omega testing. So, I had ample time to check out all the classes and played around with various souls. But, amongst all classes and soul mixes I’ve dabbled with, one soul that stood out the most: The Saboteur. So, most of my builds are around this soul.

The Bombardier (Bard/Saboteur/Nightblade)
This build has pretty decent survivability and its great for Solo PvE and Dungeons. If I recall correctly, I’ve only died a couple of times using this build. Mostly during invasion events and then once in Darkening Deeps.

The Bard’s healing and buffs will keep you alive. By yourself, you won’t be able to keep a party up in a dungeon with your healing. But it still helps your designated healer a whole lot. Then, the Saboteur’s Charges will give you a wide variety of attacks from insane burst DPS, area of effect damage, damage over times and stuns. Investing on Nightblade’s Blazing Fury and Coup De Grace will improve your Bard’s Cadence (more damage, means more heals), and also your Saboteur’s charges and Detonate.

If you want something sturdier, you can also use Riftstalker instead of Nightblade. Then, invest points in it to raise your endurance and armor.

The Commando (Saboteur, Marksman, Nightblade)
I know that a lot of people are complaining about being instantly killed by Saboteur. I don’t know if this is true. But I’ve never one shot anybody with a full health. I did, however, killed someone with two shots using this build in PvP.

My rotation, I usually put 1 Spike Charge (+1 with charge booster) and 4 Blast Charges (+1 with Charge Booster). I’ll detonate the charges using Annihilation Bomb, which stuns your opponent and also doesn’t wipe out combo points if its improved with Demolotion Specialist. Then, I’ll use the combo points for a Deadeye Shot. This build also have a lot of “getaway” attacks, which will help you a lot since your squishy. So, if your enemy gets close just use Swift Shot -> Concussion Charge -> Detonate. Once he’s stunned, plant Blast Charges on him.

Alternatively, you can also use Ranger instead of Marksman. You’ll get access to Critical Hit bonuses, Damage Reduction and also a pet to distract your enemies. While you won’t have Deadeye Shot, Headshot will also works fine.

Well, that’s it for my builds. I really had fun using both of them, and can’t think of any character to play in RIFT. Although I have sinking feeling that Saboteurs will get nerfed before launch or right after launch. We’ll see, I guess.

So, how about you? Got any RIFT builds you want to share?
